How we work

Most of our work happens in people's homes. It is hard to understand why a shower has become difficult from behind a desk, and much easier standing in the bathroom with you. We look at the task, the space and the person together, because a problem is rarely only one of those.

We write in plain words. Reports go to the people who need them, and we will tell you what we have written. If we are not the right service for you, we will say so early and point you somewhere better.

Our story

Here since 1999

Andrea established Geelong OT in 1999. She will tell you that the role of occupational therapy has changed a great deal since then, and so have the funding schemes.

What has not changed is how much she and the team care about the work, and about the people they do it with and for. The team is experienced and it is stable: people stay.

They have long-standing relationships with other providers and suppliers across the region. Most of all, they work in a friendly, relaxed way that puts people at ease.

Our team

Who you will actually see

You are matched to the therapist whose skills fit what you need, and you keep seeing them.

  • Andrea Douglas

    Manager / Occupational Therapist

Andrea is our most experienced OT, though we do not like to use the word "oldest".

She has a strong interest in completing functional capacity assessments, so that you have the right supports for the life you want to live. She also enjoys problem solving manual handling challenges and training support teams, so that you can be safely supported with transfers and positioning.

Outside of work, Andrea enjoys spending time with her husband, her three adult children, and family and friends. She enjoys being creative with clay, particularly making pots for her garden.

  • Rachel Senjov

    Occupational Therapist

Rachel is an experienced OT who genuinely loves helping people feel safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes and communities.

She has a real passion for home and living assessments, including Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), along with home modifications, functional capacity assessments, and complex assistive technology assessment and prescription.

When she is not working, Rachel enjoys long walks and cooking. On weekends she can usually be found on the sidelines, cheering on her kids at basketball, netball and football.

  • Tegan Kayler-Thomson

    Occupational Therapist

Tegan has primarily supported adults living with disability under the NDIS. She enjoys helping them build independence, participate in meaningful activities, and feel confident in their everyday lives.

Tegan has a particular interest in Home and Living Assessments, bringing a thorough, client-centred approach to understanding each person’s support needs and living goals. She is experienced in assistive technology and equipment prescription and in minor and major Home Modifications.

Her practice is grounded in building strong therapeutic relationships and delivering assessments and recommendations that truly reflect what matters most to each client.

Outside of work, Tegan is a proud mum to two wonderful children. She values time with family and friends, enjoys home projects and gardening, and can always be found hunting down a good Netflix.

  • Natalie Horman

    Occupational Therapist

Natalie has worked across a range of areas within occupational therapy, but her passion is working with older people and supporting them to remain safe, independent and connected. She provides practical, personalised solutions to help people stay living at home for as long as possible.

Outside of work, she is kept busy chasing after her two boys. When she gets some spare time, she enjoys taking on woodworking projects and is an avid op shopper.

  • Jess Powers

    Occupational Therapist

Jess enjoys supporting people with a range of abilities, particularly people with autism (ASD) and intellectual disability (ID). She enjoys breaking tasks down into small achievable goals, and seeing that something which may seem small can make a big difference to someone's independence.

She loves that OT is all about function, and that independence is built by practising everyday tasks.

Outside of work, Jess enjoys time with her family, singing in a choir, meeting up with friends and making connections with new ones.

  • Lynette Preston

    Occupational Therapist

Lynette is an occupational therapist who loves hearing people’s stories, understanding their values, exploring their goals and finding a way forward together. She is passionate about supporting each person to engage in the activities that are meaningful to them.

Her experience spans brain injury rehabilitation, rural and remote service delivery, and clinical leadership. She works with adults of all ages, together with their families and care teams.

Outside of OT, Lynette loves spending time with her family, baking, creating, studying and hiking.

  • Grace Gregg

    Occupational Therapist

Grace has worked across a variety of areas, including aged care, care coordination, NDIS and assistive technology consulting.

She enjoys supporting people to find the right assistive technology to fit their needs, particularly complex seating and wheelchair prescription, and the problem-solving involved in finding practical solutions that improve people's comfort, independence and participation.

Outside of work, Grace is a mum to two little people and a fur baby. She enjoys baking, reading and going for walks with the family.

  • Kylie Harrison

    Therapy Assistant

Kylie is our wonderful multi-skilled therapy assistant. She supports some of our clients to engage in their living skills program, and loves seeing the happiness, confidence and pride they feel when they achieve their goals. She loves getting to know each person and celebrating the little wins along the way.

Kylie also has a background in assistive technology, so do not be surprised if she arrives with her tool bag in hand. She checks equipment and arranges maintenance and repairs to keep your assistive technology in good order.

When Kylie is not at work you will most likely find her spending time with her family or her puppy. She loves travelling, exploring new places, and hitting the slopes for some skiing.
